Venice: 'The Floating City'

Venice--or 'Venezia' to the locals--for us, was magical and romantic. For two days, we saw not one car and rode 'water taxis' everywhere--through town and from island to island. The water seemed a crystal blue green and literally glistened at nights with the city lights reflecting on it. Breathtaking.

News to us:
1. Venetian streets actually have little holes in them, to let them water in, at high tide. Interesting...
2. Everyone drinks espresso after breakfast, not another coffee drink. Brian is all about 'doing it the way the locals do it' so he was loving life after the espressos each day. :)
3. The masked carnivals started in this amazing city. Masks were EVERYWHERE, and they were beautiful. Too bad we didn't really have a good reason to tote one home with us to London.
4. The beautiful music that's been taking place in St Mark's Square for centuries.
