For the Love of the Lake

According to one writer, 'when a man has a heart and a shirt he should sell the shirt in order to see Lake Maggiore.' Aptly spoken from a travel book about the beautiful Italian lake district, it's the perfect description for this jewel-like, magical place. The town of Stresa, known as 'Queen of the Lake,' lies at the foot of the Mottarone peak and boasts glorious, sweeping views to the little islands in one direction and the Swiss Alps in the other. The food was delectable, the locals friendly, and we spent the days touring the islands quaint shops, the Borromeo Palace, and taking a romantic boat cruise for two, to and from dinner one night, courtesy of the restaurant.

THE most amazing ravioli ever to be put in our mouths

(this gate reminded me of the one in Sound of Music in the Von Trapp's backyard!)
unbelievable gardens
the Alps in the distance
