Happy Thanksgiving: Redcoats and Raffle Prizes

Believe it or not, the British do have occasions for us U.S. patriots to celebrate one of our favorite holidays over here in London. Last Saturday night, we had the opportunity to attend a Thanksgiving black tie dinner and event with the American Society of London at the Savile Club (savileclub.co.uk). It was so much fun to dress up, hail a cab to drive us over there, and meet so many interesting fellow American citizens. We even shared homestyle turkey and dressing for dinner and topped it off with traditional pumpkin and pecan pie slices for dessert, too. We listened to live music and heard one of the Admirals speak about the relationship between the Great Britain and America and our people. Very fitting, he said our two countries were like brothers--sometimes we don't always get along, but we always support one another and are willing to fight and die together. Several U.S. and British servicemen and women were honored guests at the event.

To top it off, we won one of the raffle prizes! (And we never win anything!) Funny part, I was drawing the raffle numbers and accidently drew ours'--haha! So, we made it home with a oversized basket of delightfully fragrant bath products, a soft robe, and cozy slippers. Below is a picture of Brian and I with our winning, and the nice man with red coat tails who helped host this fun event!

Happy early Thanksgiving to everyone!
