Hello, blogworld and friends! I have some updating and posting to do, and I just need to upload all of the pics to my little Mac so I can put them on here, but in the meantime, I thought I'd write down some little observations that we find interesting about every-day life in London.
As I said, more pictures to come soon.... and this week, best friend, Ruthie and her husband, Edward, are in town from Arkansas, so Brian and I are loving spending time with the two of them and having them on Marloes Road with us!
THOUGHTS...
* Why do men wear skinny jeans? I mean, I just bought of pair of these last winter, but it seems that British men under 30 wear more of these than American women do. Not a fan of this look... no, and those of you who know us, obviously my husband is not into this trend, either.
* Changing of the Guards: how is it that a few thousand people come to watch this event EVERY SINGLE DAY? It never fails. I have been probably 4 times, but even if I am walking in the vicinity of Buckingham Palace, throngs of people are flocking to see people go on and off the clock of duty.
* College-sized refrigerators really do work. This is the size of our fridge in our flat. It is no taller than my countertops. I will have to take a picture, but let me tell you, it makes our old one on Rutgers Drive look like a commercial grade one. But, somehow, with daily trips to the market and only buying what you want to eat that day or possibly for the next one, too, we make this work and we feel like we cook just as much as we ever did (or more) in Dallas.
* Men do not wear undershirts to work. Or ever. This is gross. Brian said that businessmen in the city will be sitting in meetings discussing in-depth topics with their shirt open by the first two buttons or so and their chest hair showing through. Yuck. Again, this is not a trend we are buying into. Men's shirts also never have a button-down collar or a shirt pocket. If you do, code for: I am an American.
Just some random thoughts!!!
Happy Wednesday, friends and family!
