Bears in London

Yesterday morning on my walk to work, I took a different route that brought me right through Imperial College. Remember this, Baylor in Great Britain friends? Our home away from home for 6 wonderful, expense-paid weeks of exploring Europe with friends and only going to class for 2 hours a day. OK, I had an errand to run at the post office, but I also was on the look-out on campus. The night before, I was in line at Whole Foods (wonderful Whole Foods, a little bit of Dallas and this place is 3 stories). And what do my wondering eyes behold, but a 20-something aged guy walking by me and I see on his t-shirt (t-shirt is code for: American) and it says Chi-O Crush. Oh, yes, my senses are perked up now. Too bad it wasn't a Country Christmas shirt, but hey, that's ok. I watch him until he turns around, and yep, it says BAYLOR UNIVERSITY on the back! I finish checking out, take my little bag of American groceries out into the London streets, and start my walk home. I call Brian.. 'Guess what! I think the Baylor in Great Britain students are here!' Brian: 'Fun! Maybe we'll run into some of them.' Next phone call, my intro is the same as it was to Brian: Ashlyn. 'Kambry, why didn't you go talk to him?!' I dunno...what do you say? 'Hi, are you from Baylor? Are you on Baylor in Great Britain? Well, I did that 8 years ago (wow... I am old) and now my hubby and I live here. BGB is the greatest thing ever!' Was that what I was supposed to say, sister?

Well, fast forward to yesterday morning, and that's just what I did. I spotted them--2 guys, 2 girls--not too hard--all wearing more Greek shirts. No Delta shirts--where are you Deltas?--and I boldly walked up to them, holding my mocha, and said basically the above conversation. No inhibition. Additional dialogue did include 'That's awesome!' and 'What year did you graduate?' (2004... and I was thinking 'you were probably in 9th grade then...') and 'Do you live around here?' and 'Where did you go on your first week of traveling?' Answer: Scandinavia. It was super fun to meet them and lemme tell you, Baylor Bears are friendly and great the whole world over.

Sic 'em!

I found your blog recently and I just HAD to comment!! I went to Baylor my freshman year in 2004. I ended up transfering closer to home, but I participated in London semester my sophomore year. London stole my heart and I miss it everyday---your blog is such a happy place for me! :)
