Early this past August, we were excited to be able to join our good friends, Frank and Stephanie White, in Paris on the last leg of their summer vacation in Europe. We hopped on the EuroStar train in London on Friday afternoon and an hour a half later after traveling under the Channel, we arrived at Gare du Nord train station and found the Whites waiting for us, holding an official "Ruby" sign and everything! :)
Different than London, and although still a big, capital city, Paris is so much more laid back and it seems as though the locals have such a slower pace and approach to life. Music on the street corners, lights on the Eiffel Tower at night, and street markets and entertainment make for a great trip. I have to say, I'm very happy we were assigned to actually LIVE in London, as my understanding of the French language is minimal! It's nice to be able to communicate in G. Britain :)
We had a great time spending a few days with such wonderful friends from home and exploring the city together. We toured the extravagant, gilded Palace at Versailles and gardens; ate wonderful French food, ice cream, and coffee; walked through the fabulous impressionist museum, Muse De Orsay; and explored many of the other famous sites. We stayed in the charming St. Germain district of Paris at the cutest, authentically Parisian hotel, Hotel Verneuil (www.hotelverneuil.com), and had wonderful weekend trip to the City of Light! Thanks for letting us join you, Frank and Steph!
