Day Trip: Blenheim Palace

Last week, I traveled with the American Women's Club to tour Blenheim Palace one day. I was so excited to learn of this day trip with the club, as it would be decorated for Christmas upon our visit and we had a private tour of the magnificent house.
Everything was beautiful! The palace is set in the Cotswolds, so of course we passed loads of sheep and rolling hills along the way. Our guide showed us the intricacies of Blenheim and we learned the history of this historic home that is still home to the current Duke and Duchess of Marlborough some 300 years after the first residents began building and construction of it. Most famous for: being the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Britain's fearless WWII leader. (It's also in the movie, Gulliver's Travels, which comes out this Christmas season).
To picture life in a place like this takes quite the imagination... and what gets me, is that some people really do live like this still today. I think somehow, though, I can manage to try to imagine it. :)

I visited Blenheim Palace in 2004, and it was magnificent! I really loved it, and I can't wait to go back! The Cotswalds are so beautiful. :)
