Spring Means...

Since we have been spared from the months of torrential rain and freezing temps lately and blessed, rather, with beautiful blue skies and the sun on our faces, I've been able to enjoy little things around town that are so delightful here in England.

...Walks in Holland Park
Seriously, probably my very absolutely favorite thing about living here on a regular basis are the parks. They are huge, beautiful, and manicured havens that the public can roam in and out of, free of charge, with their pets off leashes. Each park is like a Londoner's own back yard. And when the sun comes out, people flock here like bees to honey to bask in the warmth and enjoy beautiful flowers, like these tulips in Holland Park. Beautiful! I love passing people reading their book on the benches.

...More Visits to Portobello Road
This morning, I met a friend for a little breakfast and coffee in Notting Hill at a neat organic store and cafe called Daylesford Organic. Just walking in will make you want to "go green" it's so charming. Afterwards, I sauntered on over to Portobello Road. Merchants were setting up their tents for tomorrow's big antique market, and I heard several Americans wheeling and dealing for goods to take back with them to the States. My all-time favorite store is the Portobello Antique Map Store. I'm hoping to bring this one home with me, it's a sepia toned ink print from around 1800 of Westminster Bridge and the Abbey.

...Watering Flowers
Tomorrow, Brian and I are going to the local nursery and we'll be on a mission to create some pretty flower pots for our front terrace that overlooks the street. We need some color out there, and the weather will now nurture, and not kill, our little blooms. I thought this watering can would help, too.

... The Best Berries We've Ever Put in Our Mouths.
Remember our market street? Well, Paul, the nice man who owns the fruit and veggie stand, just got his first shipment of English strawberries in this week. He told me that they were hands down worth the extra 1.50 GBP, so I took his word for it and have never looked back. If you add a granule of sugar, they'll be too sweet. On their own, they are so delicious! We are just devouring them around here. Last summer, my friend Regan and I had these every morning for breakfast during her visit. :)
