Although it looked like just Brian and I went to Rome two weeks ago, we actually had a little friend along. In our pockets. And his name is Flat Stanley.
Our cousin, Knox, of Austin, asked us to take his elementary school paper-person project around London to learn more about the world, but when he arrived in the mail the day before we went to Italy, we knew Flat had to come, too. So, everywhere we went, Flat went too. We got some funny looks from Europeans, but oh well. Flat had to see St. Peter's and the Spanish Steps, too.
And now, Flat has been all around London, the Peter Pan statue, and Kensington Palace. Rita and I even snapped a photo of him outside The Travel Bookshop in Notting Hill last week, in an effort to promote literacy. He still needs to visit the Tower, the Tower Bridge, and Buckingham Palace before we send him on his merry way back to Texas next week to make it in time for Knox's big presentation in Austin.
Enjoy F. Stanley's pics. Thanks for sharing your project, Knox, and for sending him 5,000 miles across the ocean. We hope your class enjoys his adventures, too.

I LOVE Flat Stanley! We have done that with school before too!! :)
This is so funny! I love it! I wish I could be Flat Stanley and go to Rome with you!
We always did this project when I taught 2nd grade. This would have been one of the better visits Flat Stanley went on. I'm sure Knox got an A+! :)
